Tom Ripley is hired by Herbert Greenleaf to go to Italy and convince the latter's son to come home. While there, it becomes clear to the reader that Tom is a bit strange, to put it mildly.
Highsmith does a good job at taking us through a plethora of minor plot details. Her planning process must have been pain-staking. Tom's psychology is fascinating. There could have been a stronger #2 character, but I quibble. This novel gets my recommendation
