They Whisper

They Whisper - Robert Olen Butler Well, I fought and battled to get through this one and I have to admit that I'm glad I did. I eventually adjusted to the run-on sentences, the massive paragraphs, and the lack of chaptering. I glossed over the titular whispers in the second half or so of the novel. They still seem more like a gimmick to me, like Butler was more concerned with being unique and standing out than writing a quality novel. That's disappointing, because he is a talented writer. Anyway, the ending is abrupt. Certain questions are left unanswered, but I guess that's always the case with women.
